Fusible.com’s Domain Industry Story Picks of the Week

Domaining.com is the premier venue for writers who blog about the Domain Industry to be heard. The site is the best place for information about buying, selling, and developing domain names.
It hasn’t been a big week of stories here at Fusible because of work commitments, however, there have been a number of stories that quickly grabbed our attention over at Domaining.com with their interesting headlines and information about the Domain Industry.
Here are the picks of the week for Domain Industry news.

How important is Domaining.com? Domaining.com is very important, especially if you write a blog about domain names and although, a number of domain bloggers are so enamored by their traffic numbers, many might forget that much of a domain blog’s traffic indeed comes from Domaining.com. Although success, ultimately, is guaranteed by the quality of writing, I’m not aware of any domain industry blogs who didn’t get their start on Domaining.com.
Dutch Boyd, Poker Player, Domainer
Mike Sullivan of Sully’s blog publishes information about the domain industry, including interviews with prominent domainers and companies who use domain names to build their business. In this week’s interview, Mike Sullivan interviews Dutch Boyd, a two-time WSOP Bracelet winner and big investor in domain names. My favorite quote from the interview: “The kids growing up right now that are natives to the Internet… in ten years they’re going to be dropping out of Harvard and coming up with the next killer app and they’re going to need a domain name for it. The old guard who balks at spending seven or eight figures on category killer domains… they’re going to be replaced by these kids who aren’t going to argue that a domain like Candy.com or Sex.com is worth eight figures.”
Buying .CO Domains for Typo Traffic
Elliot Silver, who was granted the domain Bahamas.co through the .CO Founders Agreement with the .CO registry, writes about the myth of .com typo traffic. Elliot has a great take on the .co domain as a typo domain and backs it up with statistics.
Are you a loser if you can’t “make it” as a domainer?
Written by Mark Jeftovic, The Web Value Investor blog is one of the newer blogs listed on Domaining.com. If you’re a regular reader of domain bloggers, it might not be that difficult to guess where Mark is going with this story. Rick Schwartz, the domain investor some fans can’t stand, is the subject of this story. Rick Schwartz even chimes in.
Getting squeezed sucks… So what to do?
Mike Cohen offers a few tips on investing, and how the small guy in the Domain Industry can compete against mega-domain corporations like Register.com who keep premium domains that expire. Mike’s advice is simple: Suck it up, re-strategize, and find your niche.
