It looks like eBay could be trying to improve its press relations for its wholly owned subsidiary PayPal.
On August 20, 2011, eBay acquired the domain name paypalpress.com, after the domain name had expired in July.
PayPal already has a press center at paypal-media.com, but it may be looking to upgrade its web address and press image as it fights off hacker groups.

PayPal has owned paypal-press.com since 2007, which it redirects to its home page, so the purchase of the non-hyphenated domain name may be nothing more than part of its intellectual property strategy.
Other possibilities include a PayPal WordPress plug-in or “PayPal How-To” books published by the e-commerce company under the name PayPal Press.
