THQ, a developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software, may be planning to launch its own “Call of Duty Elite” social-networking service on THQSocial.com.
The company registered the domain name THQSocial.com on July 5, 2011, according to Whois records.
Just last month, Danny Bilson, president of the company’s Core Games division, did an interview with Gamasutra and said that THQ is going to do “a lot of” the sort of extensions that let players connect games leaderboards to real live social networks. The interview followed the company’s closure of Kaos Studios, developer of Homefront.
With THQSocial.com, the company could be planning to strengthen its offerings by providing social-networking features and take on competitors like Activision’s social networking service “Call of Duty Elite” set to launch in November 2011.
This fall, THQ will be releasing Margaritaville Online on Facebook.
