Property.com Set to Launch This Month, The Rumored $10 Million Deal by Domain King Rick Scwhartz

The category-killer domain name Property.com that Rick Schwartz sold to Foreclosure.com for a rumored 8-figures (which he originally purchased for $750,000), is set to launch this month according to the Property.com website.

As reported on Rick’s blog, Brad Giesen the Foreclosure.com, President and Founder, plans to build an online real estate empire. Over the past few weeks the Property.com landing page has changed appearance. Although most Coming Soon pages are usually more elegant than the current Coming Soon page, it really won’t matter, as the site will be launching any day now.

Here’s a snapshot of the Property.com Domain name over the years, taken from Archive.org.

Property.com – 1996

DealmakersFrom the mid-nineties through 2005, The Dealmakers had an online website that evolved over the years, branding itself as the internet’s oldest commercial real estate online. In 2005, the site got a new look and feel after Rick Schwartz acquired the name.

Vision for the NEW Property.com Website

From Rick Schwartz’ blog:

Property.com will include all listing types, including those indexed the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), creating a database that could surpass more than 15 million homes, but not including distressed properties, which will remain the business of Foreclosure.com. The best part is that it will be totally free to search for potential buyers and visitors, and sellers will be able to upload and edit their own personal listings at no charge.  It’s a wide-open model that Geisen knows will create an invaluable resource for just about anyone interested in real estate

Ad Domain Names are Hot, Sedo sells AdFactory.com for $7,000

"What's Hot"So you may of thought advertising exchange websites were fading away along with PPC, but following the sale of Admedia.com for $50,000 on Sedo recently and the buzz over the ad.com sour deal, ‘ad’ domain names nevertheless have been selling strong on the aftermarket.

The name AdFactory.com is still in the Sedo Transfer service, so the new owner hasn’t been revealed, but there are several candidates.  One candidate is The Ad Factory who runs their website on the URL: adfactorycs.com.  Chances are the Ad Factory name will be used for a company offering design services, which it seems better suited for, instead of ‘ad exchange’ services like DoubleClick, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Ad Domain Name Real Estate Going Up In Value

If you own a prime ‘ad’ domain name, your real estate might be going up in price. Several of the ad names that have been selling have been used for ad exchange websites.  With online ad sales down, 2009 could still turn out to be the strongest year ever for online ad sales according to The New York Times.  With ad sales continuing to expand, more players might jump into the Ad Exchange game of offering a platform for buying and selling ad impressions – and owning a prime “Ad” domain may help give their business a marketing edge over a competitor.

Other notable “Ad” domain sales

Admedia.com – sold for $50,000 earlier this month
Adbuy.com – sold for $5,500 in June on afternic
Adslot.com – sold for $9,000 in April on sedo

Through Bored.com’s Network, Eric Borgos made MILLIONS, can you do the same?

"Layoff Game"
It doesn't require a degree in rocket science to engage in the website with games like the Layoff Game where the goal is to save money by laying employees off. It may seem dumb, but the formula works.

Through Eric Borgos’ Bored.com Network of Entertainment sites, he developed a simple formula of unique, content-focused minisites that connected people in ways that it was engaging and fun.

Eventually, the Bored.com website was pulling in $35,000 a month in profit, before Eric sold the website and 170 other sites to JW Media for $4 million+.

We have featuerd Eric Borgos and his company Impulse Corp. previously on Fusible.com — which Impulse Corp. has interested us as domainers and domain developers.

Eric may have sold Bored.com, but he owns the Dumb.com network.

The original Bored.com wasn’t flashy or web 2.0, but it made money through it’s engaging features that drew in users. And the Dumb.com Entertainment network is also simple, linking to sites within it’s own network of engaging content and games to play.

Lower PPC, Fewer Domain Sales?

Amid the buzz of lower PPC and fewer domain sales, one thing is for sure, developing your domains creates more potential. You can put Adsense ads on your site, sell direct ads — you’re in control. Developing groups of names within a network, makes each brand stronger.

If you’re spending money each year renewing your names with less revenue to sell, why not try your hand at development?

Although there are several sites offering domain development services, if you can’t afford those services, try giving eLance.com and other freelance sites a shot to see if you can land an affordable, reliable developer.  Then start designing and creating and working with the developer to build and test.

Domaining is a Buyer’s Market, even for hand-registered names

"Dogs Playing poker"Many individuals and organizations still hand-register domain names. We still do, and with the market favoring the buyer, we’re finding more and more domain names deleting and not being registered again. In the past few days we’ve hand-registered several names, including several poker terms that had been registered for years, that deleted then became available.

We know these names aren’t great and in a buyer’s market, it will take much longer to sell, but we have plans for these names like many of the names we purchase on the aftermarket. Just because a name is available for hand-registration in 2009, doesn’t mean it has no potential for opportunity. It just means you need to do a little more research.

Sample Hand-Registration Purchases in the Past Week

LimitGame.com
SidePots.com
ExposedCard.com
TheGutShot.com
ThePreFlop.com
ThePokerTell.com
PuppyObedienceClass.com
FathersDayCandy.com
TexasHoldemCashgame.com
TexasHoldemCashgames.com

Make sure to check out the Aftermarket sites like NameJet and SnapNames on a regular basis for deals.

The domaining market like other markets will slowly but surely get back to a Seller’s market in the near future.
